Cuban Olympian and adopted Australian Hector Lombard has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled co-main event bout against Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Macau card due to injury.
UFC president Dana White made the announcement via social media earlier today while in Hong Kong on a publicity tour to promote the card.
The bout was set to be Lombard’s first since he defeated former title challenger Jake Shields back in March. News of what the injury was or how long Lombard will be out was not immediately available.
Dana White announced that replacing Lombard will be his American Top Team team-mate Tyron Woodley who will be looking at getting himself back in title contention after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Rory MacDonald earlier this month.
The event is set to feature a middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and Cung Le while a lightweight bout between Zhang Lipeng and Australian Brendan O’Reilly is also rumoured for the card.
The event takes place at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China on August 23.
