Thanh Vu (3-1) vs Kevin Belingon (10-2)
Round 1:
Fighters touch gloves to start the action. Vu definitely has the height advantage as the two exchange leg kicks. Nice body kick by Belingon. Follows up with further lightning quick leg kicks. Another leg kick trips Vu, but the Martial Arts Development fighter pops straight back to his feet as the two exchange punches. Belingon capitalises and gets the take-down but Vu pops back to his feet shortly after. Another single-leg take-down, and Belingon is in side-control against the cage. Vu attempts to scramble and regains half-guard. Belingon connects with some short strikes before the referee stands them up just before the round ends.
Round 2:
Belingon connects early in the second round with a kick which clips & rocks Vu. Belingon follows up and connects with a combination of strikes that knocks down Vu with the referee Kenichi Sherizawa choosing to jump in to save Vu from any further punishment. Vu immediately questioned the stoppage as he was moving in on a take-down as the fight was stopped, but as he had one arm around the referee’s leg, and the other around his opponent’s leg, I will side with the referee on the stoppage. The end came at 1:00.
Official Verdict: Kevin Belingon def Thanh Vu via TKO (Punches), Rd 2, 1:00
