Three titles are set to go on the line this Saturday night at Roshambo 3 with Fight News Australia confirming that the middleweight title fight being cancelled due to American Joe Ray being forced out against Steven Kennedy.
The event will take place at the seated Chandler Theatre in Chandler, Queensland.
Headlining the card will be a lightweight battle between current champion Alex Volkanovski and the ever entertaining Jai Bradney.
Volkanovski was previously the Roshambo welterweight champion and dropped down to take the lightweight title in February. There the Freestyle Fighting Gym fighter impressively submitted Greg Atzori with a guillotine choke in the opening round. Volkanovski (6-1) lone loss came at the hands of Corey Nelson back in May 2013.
Jai Bradney (15-9) is a familiar name to many Australian fans and has fought professionally since 2007. He has defeated the likes of Rob Hill, Ian Schaffa, Shane Wundenberg and Nick Honstein. After a spell training in Germany, Bradney is all re-energised and looking to bounce back in the lightweight ranks after losing his last two outings to Adrian Pang and Ben Wall.
Gamebred MMA fighter Shauna Carew (3-1) will be defending her Roshambo pinweight title when she faces New South Wales based fighter Ginny Connors (1-2).
Carew captured the title back at Roshambo 2 in February with an hard-fought five-round fight against American Sarah Lagerstrom. Carew was given the split points decision.
An accomplished boxer and Muay Thai fighter, Connors is looking forward to competing at a more natural weight, with the accomplished boxer and Muay Thai fighter coming into the contest on back-to-back losses.
Jessy “Jess” Rose-Clark (5-1) will look to add another title to her cabinet when she faces Lana Kate Tasmanian fighter Rhiannon Thompson. The Integrated MMA fighter is coming off an impressive TKO victory over Kate Da Silva at XFC 21 last month.
Based out of Victoria, Lana “The Black Mamba” Kate (2-1) will go into the fight on the back of two consecutive wins against Amy Adam, with the last fight going down at AFC 5 back in May 2013. After a bit of an inactive spell, Kate will be eager to get back into the cage.
Thompson steps up on very late notice after the promotion confirmed that Kate pulled out of the fight on Thursday night. It’s a step-up in competition for Jessy Jess, as Thompson brings an impressive 4-0 record into the fight with wins over Bec Rawlings and most recently against Kenani Mangakahia.
Earlier on the card, Brentin Mumford will look to continue his impressive form at lightweight when he faces Dean Purdon, while Ryan Heketa clashes with Simon Clough in a welterweight bout while Scott Dickson and Riley Mallett meet at featherweight.
