After a short break, Nitro will return on 11 October with the promotion announcing two title fights set to headline the event. The event will take place at the Logan Entertainment Centre in Logan City, Queensland.
The promotion confirmed that Gokhan Turkyilmaz will meet Isaac Tisdell for the vacated Nitro lightweight title, while Ben Nguyen will look to defend his bantamweight title when he meets Reece McLaren.
After capturing the Nitro bantamweight title back in March against Julian “Julz The Jackal” Rabaud, Australian based American Ben Nguyen will be looking to make it six wins in a row when he defends his title against Reece McLaren. Since making the move to Australia, Nguyen has defeated the likes of Grego Penaloza, Shantaram Maharaj and Luke Morris as well. The head-coach at Fightcross Cleveland is also scheduled to move back down to flyweight in December when he faces Shannon McClellan.
Fighting out of the Kachi MMA gym in Toowoomba, Queensland Reece McLaren will be looking at adding another title to his collection after earlier in the year capturing the Eternal MMA bantamweight title. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu purple-belt is also a former Fightworld Cup bantamweight champion, defeating Chris Morris back in 2012 before losing it in his next outing to Jacob Mahony after looking in control for a lot of the fight.
Gokhan Turkyilmaz gets a shot at the lightweight title and is coming off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Filipino fighter Vaughn Donayre back in May at Global Fighting Championships in Dubai. Turkyilmaz has travelled and fought around the world in recent times but returned home and earned himself a shot at the title with a 29-second stoppage over Alex MacDonald back in March. Turkyilmaz has a scheduled fight on August 9 against Jan Johannes Van Aswegen on Brace 29.
Isaac Tisdell comes into the fight on a two-fight win streak in Nitro however has not fought since October 2013 where he stopped Josh Smith. Prior to that he scored an impressive 9-second stoppage over Harley Taylor. You can guarantee that where-ever Tisdell fights, a large cheer squad will follow.
The Nitro title was previously owned by Ben Wall who vacated it after signing with the UFC.
