Details of John Wayne Parr’s Bellator Kickboxing debut have been locked in as he gets ready to face local Italian favourite Nando Calzetta on April 9th in Torino, Italy.
A relative unknown to Australian muay thai and kickboxing fans, Calzetta, 31, has a 48-13 record and has competed on well-known promotions such as Bellator, Glory Kickboxing and the Chinese Kunlun Fight.
Despite not being matched up with Giorgio Petrosyan as he originally aimed for, Parr was still up-beat about his debut telling Fight News Australia “Happy to have the opportunity to fight for such a big organisation like Bellator. I’m looking forward to putting on an exciting performance representing Australia”.
Co-promoted with Italian-based Kickboxing promotion Oktakon, Bellator Kickboxing 5 also features a women’s world title bout between Flyweights Denise Kielholtz (46-3) and Martine Michieletto (34-12-5). In addition Petrosyan (83-2-2) will take on Romanian Kickboxer Amano Paraschiu (23-5-1). Californian muay thai veteran Kevin Ross (54-11) will also feature on the card against a yet-to-be-named opponent.
