The AFC 10 live stream will be available at the Fight News Australia LIVE FIGHTS page for US $16.99.
Bernardo ‘Trekko’ Magalhaes (pictured right) makes his AFC return this Saturday night, with the two-time UFC veteran set to meet New Zealand standout Kieran Joblin (pictured left) for the promotion’s vacant lightweight title.
Magalhaes vs Joblin will now serve as the show’s main event, after the long awaited middleweight grudge match between Steve Kennedy and Daniel Kelly was cancelled. Kelly has been forced out with a fractured collarbone and the matchup will now be rescheduled for a later date. The promotion returns to the Melbourne Pavilion for this one following their first endeavor interstate to Albury, NSW, for AFC 9.
Regarded as one of the country’s top lightweights, 33 year-old Magalehes (14-4) has seen mixed results since his 2012 UFC exit, going 1-1 in MMA. He made an impressive return to the local circuit at PWP 5, putting away former Brace lightweight champion Sonny Brown in the first round, however the former CFC champion will now be eager to avoid back to back defeats following a unanimous decision loss to Nick Patterson in his promotional debut at AFC 8.
Representing Strike Force Canterbury in New Zealand, Joblin (10-5) on the other hand will be gunning for a fourth straight win when he enters the AFC ring for the second time on Saturday night. Most recently, the Kiwi champion submitted Gokhan Turkyilmaz in just over a minute at Carnage in the Cage 2, with his last appearance under the AFC banner ending in another first round submission win, this time over combat sports veteran Ian Schaffa at AFC 5.
The lightweight strap was previously held by Auckland’s Daniel Hooker, who relinquished the title after signing with the UFC back in May.
In a battle of renowned wrestlers on debut, Extreme MMA freestyle wrestling coach Amin Yaqubi and highly regarded freestyle wrestler Talgat Ilyasov will lock horns in the co-main event.
AFC 10 will also feature a middleweight tilt between Gold Coast based Kiwi veteran Joe Muir and Victorian fighter Daniel Way.
Making his promotional debut on the night, Muir is currently enjoying a three fight win streak with his last bout ending in a first round TKO stoppage win over Brogan Anderson back in mid 2013 at Bragging Rights 6. Prior to his most recent outing — a closely contested decision loss to Steve Kennedy at AFC 9 — Way had put together two wins on the trot with victories over the experienced Ben Kelleher and Brizilian veteran Daniel Almeida. Saturday night will mark his fifth appearance in the promotion.
Hard hitting AFC regular Peter Davenport also returns for his fifth promotional appearance as he comes up against promotional newcomer Luis Dabu. Dabu, a BJJ practitioner and former amateur boxer, faces a tall order on Saturday night, with a big opportunity in what will also be his pro debut. The two men will meet at 75kg.
