One Championship veteran Ev Ting will get his shot at the promotions lightweight title when he meets champion Eduard Folayang at One Championship: Kings of Destiny.
The event will take place on April 21 at the 20,000 capacity SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.
Folayang (17-5) will have the home support, fighting in his native Philippines for the first time since capturing the title back in November with an upset win over Shinya Aoki.
“I know how exceptional Ev Ting’s talent is. I am in a tough preparation for this bout. This will be my first fight in the Philippines since December 2014. I don’t want to let my countrymen down. I will make sure that the belt stays in the Philippines,” Folayang mentioned in the press-release announcing the fight.
After starting his One Championship career winning only once in his first four fights, Folayang turned the tide and has won five out of his last six, including wins against Tetsuya Yamada, Adrian Pang and the previously mentioned Shinya Aoki.
Training out of the Auckland MMA gym, Ting (13-3) has won four straight in the promotion and edged out former UFC fighter Kamal Shalorus in his last outing at beginning of February. Prior to that Ting defeated Robert Lisita via unanimous decision.
