Carnage In The Cage returns this Saturday with the event set to feature two title fights in the featherweight and flyweight divisions.
For the first time the event also moves to the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre in Mackay, Queensland.
Headlining the event will be a between Shane Wundenberg from the Potential Unlimited MMA gym on the Gold Coast, and Bowen trained youngster Taela Kelly (pictured). The two will clash for the vacant Carnage In The Cage featherweight title.
“Wonderboy” Wundenberg will return after an extended break from competitive fighting, having last fought back in 2011 where he was submitted by Brodee Callinan in the first-round. Wundenberg has faced some of the leading fighters in Australia, notably fighting to a draw with current UFC fighter Ben Wall back in mid 2011.
Twenty year-old Taela Kelly has an extensive amateur background and has appeared on both previous Carnage In The Cage (CITC) events. Kelly lost at CITC 1 to veteran fighter Gokhan Turkylimaz but rebounded at CITC 2, defeating Abel Brites via a split points decision. Kelly then dropped to the featherweight division but went down to Brentin Mumford in April on the Fightworld Cup promotion.
Another fighter looking to rebound on the card is Tim Moore who will face Ryan Lambert in a flyweight title bout.
A team-mate and training partner of Wundenberg, “Quickdraw” Moore is coming of a decision loss to Shaun Etchell in July, and will be eager to rebound and prove himself as one of the top flyweights in the country. Moore has notable victories over Grego Penaloza, Thanh Vu and Chris Morris.
Moore takes on Gladstone based fighter Ryan Lambert who steps up the ranks to challenge for a title. A team-mate of Kairin Moses and Kaela Banney, Lambert has previously competed in Fightworld Cup and Warriors Realm, and has a notable first round stoppage over Garrett Gross in the amateur ranks.
Also on the card, local fighter Eddie Trewin rematches Tasmanian fighter David Butt. The two clashed back at CITC 1, where Trewin walked away with the unanimous decision win. Sam Kitchener clashes with Jasper Petersen-Jessen in a lightweight clash while young female prospect Kaela Banney meets Lisa Yu.
