UFC middleweight contender Robert Whittaker has risen to number three in the division rankings after his impressive second round knock-out of Brazilian submission specialist Jacare Souza.
‘The Reaper’s victory sees him rise up the rankings three spots and sends big names like Gegard Mousasi and former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman down below him.
The only two fighters sitting above the rising star are Cuba’s Yoel Romero, who seems very content to wait for the time being for his next fight, and the other being former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, who has already expressed his interest in a fight with Whittaker.
The rise to number three in the rankings makes Whittaker’s call for a title shot even more realistic and should Bisping get through GSP (Georges St-Pierre), then an Aussie/Kiwi may finally get a long awaited title shot.
