The UFC Fight Night 55 card now has a co-main event with today’s confirmation that Ross Pearson has signed on to face Al Iaquinta on the November 8 card.
UFC officials confirmed via a press-release that the fighters have verbally agreed to the match-up.
Pearson (16-7) is no stranger to Australian shores having competed in the country twice previously which includes the 2012 TKO stoppage over Australian George Sotiropoulos. The two clashed in the finale of The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs U.K.
Since then the 30-year-old has fought four times for a 2-1 (1 no-contest) record. The loss came under controversial circumstances after Diego Sanchez walked away with a split-points decision win. The Brit is coming off an impressive second-round TKO over former title challenger Gray Maynard.
Al Iaquinta (9-3-1) is a TUF 15 finalist, and brings a 4-2 record within the UFC which includes wins against the likes of Ryan Couture and most recently Rodrigo Damn in early September. The 27-year-old American trains out of the Serra-Longo Figh Team in New York.
The event which takes place at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, will be headlined by a middleweight clash between Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold.
