Melbourne based promotion Australian Fighting Championships (AFC) announced on Wednesday that it has partnered up with Chinese promotion Kunlun Fight.
The partnership will include MMA and kickboxing events in both Melbourne and Sydney later in the year with AFC promoter Adam Milankovic telling Fight News Australia that the shows will be contested over two-nights, split between MMA and kickboxing.
Since debuting in early 2014, Kunlun Fight has held over 60 events to become one of the leading kickboxing promotions in the world. Buakaw, Yodsanklai, Albert Kraus and Andy Souwer are among the fighters that have fought within the promotion. Kunlun Fight received financing from a series of investors in 2016 that saw the promotion’s valuation rise to a reported US$350 million.
Earlier this year, AFC made their China debut which included AFC branded stadiums being built. That partnership with Chinese businessmen is set to continue alongside this new announcement.
The Herald Sun revealed that the Melbourne Pavilion will host the Kunlun Fight card on October 28 followed by the AFC MMA card on October 29 with Jamie Abdallah in the works to face Rameau Sokoudjou.
