Women’s MMA fighter Arlene Blencowe has signed on to compete in North American promotion Bellator MMA. News of the signing was first revealed online via Combat Press.
A former two-time world boxing champion who has mixed it up competing in both MMA and boxing in recent times, Blencowe drops into the promotions developing featherweight division where she joins the likes of Marloes Coenen and Julia Budd.
Blencowe (5-4 MMA, 2-3 Boxing), started off her MMA career back in 2013, however in her first six fights was only victorious twice. Since then though, Blencowe has turned it around winning three on the trot with wins against Mae-Lin Leow, Kenani Mangakahia and most recently avenging a 2013 loss, by stopping New Zealand standout Faith Van Duin.
The 31-year-old is expected to make her Bellator debut in the early part of 2015 and is currently preparing for another crack at a world boxing title. Blencowe faces renowned Perth based Erin McGowan.
