The UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) has announced a partnership with Fetch, making the internet provider its ‘official Australian provider’.
Fetch is a pay TV service which allows you to watch TV or rent/watch movies, similar to many other services like Netflix or Stan.
Australian viewers will be able to watch any UFC pay-per-view for $49.99. To watch a UFC Fight Night card, you will need to buy a monthly subscription to Fetch which costs $6, you will also be able to watch over 150 hours of other UFC footage, as well as other TV channels as part of the subscription.
Joe Carr, UFC’s senior vice-president for International and content feels as though this new deal is a major step forward for UFC in Australia.
“Fetch’s sizable subscriber base, along with its comprehensive network of ISP and retail partners offers UFC a unique opportunity to extend our distribution footprint to reach new fans and continue the dramatic growth of UFC’s brand and the sport of MMA in Australia.”
UPDATED: With UFC 214 on Sunday, viewers will still be able to watch that event and future PPV events on Foxtel Main Event as well as the undercard and future undercards on Fox Sports as usual moving forward. UFC Fight Pass broadcasting is also expected to continue as usual.
“Led by the phenomenal success of the UFC, the sport of MMA continues to grow in popularity and we are delighted to offer our subscribers an outstanding MMA offering in Australia, and to do so at unprecedented value,” said CEO of Fetch, Scott Lorson.
Earlier this year, Fetch dropped the TV from its name and logo in order to make a real push to get more views and subscriptions online.
