Kiwi welterweight Luke Jumeau has an opponent for his next fight at UFC Fight Night 117 in Saitama Japan on September 22.
Jumeau will fight Japanese fighter Shinsho Anzai and will be looking to win his 8th fight in a row. However, Anzai will be fighting with a home crowd behind him and that could be an advantage for the Japanese fighter.
The Kiwi knows the feeling of fighting at home very well, in June he defeated Dominique Steele at UFC Fight Night 110 in Auckland.
Anzai hasn’t fought since September 2015, when he defeated Roger Zapata via TKO. The 31 year-old holds a professional record of nine wins and two losses, seven of his wins have come via KO/TKO.
Jumeau, who has four submission victories to his name, might look to get this fight to the ground and get the finish this time.
Despite the impending fight in Japan, Jumeau has also displayed his desire to fight at the UFC Sydney card coming up in November. He has identified Australian Jake Matthews, the last man to defeat the Kiwi, as the man he would like to fight on the card.
