Ben Edwards will continue his push for a UFC call up this Friday night when the three-time world kickboxing champion takes on Jeremy Joiner in Canberra.
The pair will collide in the main event of Monaro Fight Circuit (MFC) 26, which will take place at Canberra’s Rex Hotel.
Edwards, who trains alongside Commonwealth Games Judoka and undefeated MMA fighter Duke Didier, made a successful MMA transition in July when he stopped former AFC heavyweight champion Brandon Sosoli in the first round with ground-and-pound from mount.
A longtime mixed martial arts fan, the 32 year-old K-1 and Glory veteran has been vocal about his ambition to make it into the UFC. A win over local heavyweight standout Joiner will only aid his cause.
The current XFC heavyweight champ, Joiner (5-1) will be eager to rebound on the night after recently suffering his first ever defeat at Diamondback FC 4, losing to Mike Turner by submission in the South Australia show’s co-main event.
Full fight card details will be posted shortly.
