Bellator MMA fans in Australia have been increasingly frustated with the lack of attention the promotion has given this region, but that may change next year with Bellator CEO Scott Coker indicating that the Viacom owned promotion is looking at potentially coming to Australia next year.
Coker made the comment during a Q&A session on Reddit, when he was asked about showing live events in this region.
“We know there is a great MMA fanbase there,” Coker commented.
“We look forward to coming there potentially in 2019,” he added.
Currently the U.S based promotion has a broadcast deal with Fetch TV however events have been shown largely delayed, despite having fighters like Sydney based Arlene Blencowe challenging for the featherweight belt. Gold Coast fighter Janay Harding has also announced signing with the promotion while Hex regular J.J Ambrose is scheduled to fight this weekend on the Bellator 193 card.
Visiting Australian shores will no doubt open the door for more fighters to prove themselves in a notable MMA promotion.
