Former XFC featherweight champion Adrian Rodriguez captured the Queensland state middleweight boxing title on Saturday night by knocking out the previously undefeated Sam Banney. The 25 year-old Rodriguez (MMA 6-2) got knock-out in the sixth round of the bout which was scheduled for eight. The win takes his professional boxing record to 1-0-1D
It wasn’t a good night for the other MMA notables on the card with Dean Purdon losing via knock-out in the first by Reagan Dessaix, while Zac Bennett went down to Reubeen Aiono in the fourth round by TKO. The event took place at the Mansfield Tavern in Queensland and was promoted by Ace Boxing Promotions.
In the main event, Miles Zalewski defeated Anthony Brownlie to capture the vacant Australian lightweight title.
