Australian based fighters Dylan Andrews and Vik Grujic have both been given their walking papers following recent defeats in the UFC.
Thirty five year-old Andrews started his UFC tenure impressively, winning back to back fights by TKO back in 2013 however since then has lost three on the trot, most recently being submitted by Bradley Scott on the UFC Adelaide card.
Victorian Grujic has won only one in his four UFC appearances after getting his UFC opportunity following an appearance on the TUF Nations series. Grujic lost to Nordine Taleb in the TUF finale however rebounded with a win against fellow Australian Chris Indich on the UFC New Zealand card in June 2014. Losses to Chris Clements and fellow Australian Brendan O’Reilly in his last outing sealed his fate.
The 38 year-old has shown his displeasure on social media voicing that he believes the UFC should have shown him more loyalty however with only two wins in his last seven professional bouts, it’s easy to justify the UFC’s decision.
Grujic has stated that he is due to have nasal surgery in the coming weeks and will decide his next step after this however he’s holding on hope that the UFC wil reconsider the decision and put him on the card in Melbourne later in the year.
