Rising Toowoomba fighter Reece McLaren has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming flyweight title fight with Charlie Alaniz at Hex Fight Series 3 after breaking his thumb in training. McLaren posted the following on his Facebook page.
Well here I am Tuesday night at training I snapped my thumbs metacarpal… Tonight I went into surgery where I had it realigned further and have had two wires inserted to hold everything in line. I have had to withdraw from my scheduled fight on Hex. I would like to take this time to thank Hex for giving me the opportunity to compete on their show and I am sorry I can’t. Thank you to my coach Vincent Perry and all my training partners at PUMMA. To my sponsors DeCollective, ProteinPowder, Magic Hand Leeza Roberts and LineBreak. I will come back from this stronger then ever. Thank you everyone the fans my family and friends for your continued support! This is a mere setback, and only a setback. Stay tuned I will be back in action at years end. Love you all!
The promotion has yet to announce a replacement for the fight.
