Accomplished Australian boxer Sam Soliman (44-12, 1NC) successfully made weight for his first return to competitive boxing since having major knee surgery last year.
The Melbourne based fighter came in at 161.4 pounds (73.2 kgs) for the contest while his undefeated American opponent Dominic Wade came in heavy at 162.5 pounds (73.7 kgs) on his first attempt. Needing to make 162 pounds, Wade returned just over an hour later to hit the scale at 161 pounds (73 kgs).
“I am ready to go. It’s taken seven months to get back in the ring. I have had the support of a great team to get me here,” Soliman commented to the media after weighing-in.
“Dominic Wade knows this fight is a huge opportunity because he is up and comer fighting a former world champion”.
“I have my eyes set on regaining the world title so this fight is just as big for me,” the Australian added.
The bout will be headline the ShoBox event and will be broadcast in Australia on Fox Sports 4 from 12:35pm AEDT on Saturday, live from Washington, USA.
