ATT Sydney fighters Ashkan Mokhtarian and Nadia Kassem have both booked fights for the UFC’s return to Singapore on June 23 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
As first revealed by Combate.com’s Raphael Marinho on Twitter back in early March, Mokhtarian will square off with Filipino Jenel Lausa while Kassem is set to meet China’s Xiaonan Yan. Both bouts were announced today by the promotion.
Twenty two year-old Kassem (5-0) made her debut for the promotion at UFC Fight Night 121: Werdum vs. Tybura in Sydney and took a gutsy unanimous decision from fellow Aussie Alex Chambers.
Her opponent for the event Yan (8-1) also has one UFC appearance under her belt, that being a unanimous decision win over American Kailin Curran. The 28 year-old is a Road FC veteran and has not tasted defeat since way back in 2010.
After an impressive run on the Australian regional circuit, which saw the flyweight go 13-1, Mokhtarian finds himself winless after two appearances in the promotion with losses to John Moraga and most recently at UFC Sydney to Ryan Benoit, who came into the contest three pounds over the limit.
The 32 year-old Aussie will be eager to get the ball rolling against former PXC champion Jenel Lausa (7-4), who will also be keen to impress on the night after winning just one of his three UFC fights.
Also announced today for the event (UFC Fight Night 132); Tyson Pedro meets Ovince Saint Preux, Jessica-Rose Clark takes on Jessica Eye and Jake Matthews faces Shinsho Anzai.
