Nearly two years since their original encounter, Kieran Joblin and Brentin Mumford met again last night in the main event of Eternal MMA 33 and the result would be no different with Joblin taking a judges decision victory.
The event took place at the Southport Sharks AFL Club on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
On Saturday night, Joblin was able to outwork his opponent to put an end to their rivalry, well at least for the time being as he took home the win 29-28, 29-28, 29-27 on all three judges cards.
It’s back to the drawing board for Mumford who earned himself another shot at Joblin with a pair of victories in 2017 before losing to division champion Callan Potter back in October. Joblin, from New Zealand, came into the rematch desperately needing a win after losing three consecutive fights which included two against international opponents. Joblin puts himself at the front of the line for a shot at Callan Potter.
In the semi-main event, Team Perosh’s Philip Kim captured the vacant Eternal flyweight title with a dominant decision win against Brayden Graham. Kim appeared to stay a step ahead of his opponent for the majority of the three round contest as he moved his professional record to 4-0.
