Matt Frincu (13-3) returns to action this week as the US-based Aussie looks to claim three wins in a row when he squares off with local fighter Joel Champion (4-1) in the RUF MMA 27 main event.
Frincu, who will be making his promotional debut on the night, has enjoyed quite a run since relocating to North America back in 2014. The entertaining 25 year-old has won nine of his 11 fights since that time, most recently earning a unanimous decision against Christian Aguilera in the LFA 44 main event (video highlights).
On the other side of the coin, Champion, meanwhile, is coming off a first round KO loss at the hands of Daniel Rodriguez in the Combate promotion. It was the 31 year-old’s first professional defeat after winning an impressive four on the trot, with all four of his wins coming via KO or submission.
This fight, which takes place at Tucson Arena in Arizona on Sunday, August 12 (AEST), will be for the promotion’s welterweight title.
