On a two fight losing streak and with the division in extreme doubt, Brisbane based flyweight Ben Nguyen has announced that he has been released from the UFC.
Nguyen, 30, made the announcement via his social media channels on Friday.
Nguyen competed just last weekend on the UFC Fight Night 142 card in Adelaide where he lost to, the number 8th ranked UFC contender at the time, Wilson Reis. Ben Nguyen was ranked number 10 prior to the loss and has since been removed from the rankings. Nguyen has submissions wins over Tim Elliott and Ryan Benoit, both whom remain on the UFC rankings.
Nguyen was interviewed last week and said he had been left in the dark with what the UFC were planning for his divisions. With the recent releases and the UFC not clearing the mud don’t be surprised if there are further releases to come.
With Vietnamese roots, Nguyen will no doubt have high interest in 2019 from Asian promotions ONE Championships and Rizin Fighting Federation.
