The historic first title defense on Australian soil of Robert Whittaker’s UFC middleweight title is set to go ahead. Both Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum made the official middleweight championship limit of 185 pounds (84kgs).
In the co-main event, the greatest UFC middleweight to ever live will take on New Zealand’s Israel Adesanya. An emotional Anderson Silva thanked the fans in Melbourne for coming out in what may be the last fight of his career. Both fighters made the middleweight limit
