UFC has added another heavyweight from the region with Justin Tafa confirming that he has signed with the promotion.
Tafa announced it via social media and confirmed by XFC, the promotion he last fought for. UFC officials have yet to announce the signing.
An occasional training partner of Tai Tuivasa and Mark Hunt, Tafa is the older brother of Glory heavyweight Junior Tafa.
Justin competed just six weeks ago where he successfully defended his XFC heavyweight title against David Taumoepeau. It was an important bout in his career progression as Taumoepeau fought smartly to take the opening round on the judges cards. Tafa though didn’t waste time in the second round, rocking his opponent before getting the knock-out finish, only 30-seconds into the round.
That win took his record to 3-0 with prior wins coming against Dylan Tiaaleaiga and Jeremy Joiner who Tafa dispatched of in just 28-seconds.
Although not confirmed, Fight News Australia understands that Tafa is expected to make his debut on the UFC 243 card being headlined by Rob Whittaker and Israel Adesanya.
