Undefeated South Australian Antonio ‘Spartan’ Caruso has had his One Championship debut fight confirmed with the 28-year-old set to face Mongolian Tsogookhuu Amarsanaa on the One: Dawn of Valor card in October.
The 7-0 fighter has traded training in Adelaide for the experienced Hard Knocks 365 gym in Fort Lauderdale, Florida – the same gym current One Championship titleholder and fellow Australian Martin Nguyen trains out of.
The gym has a who’s who of the MMA world with Robbie Lawler, Kumaru Usman and Luke Rockhold among the fighters that train at the gym.
Caruso’s fought just four times since 2016, however, in his last two outings he was able to extend his undefeated run with wins against both Jai Bradney and Tristan Murphy.
Amarsanaa started his career on the local Mongolian scene and quickly impressed to get a shot within Japan’s Deep Organisation back in 2016. He went on to stop veteran Japanese fighter Daisuke Nakamura before losing to Koji Takeda. He bounced back in his home country before being signed by One Championship and earlier this year made a successful debut in the promotion, winning a unanimous decision against Shannon Wiratchai.
The bout will be contested in the promotions lightweight division.
New Zealand’s Mark Abelardo will look to bounce back from a defeat back in May when he faces former Rebel FC champion, Ayideng Jumayi. The Chinese fighter has lost back-to-back fights also and will be looking to pick up his first win in ONE Championship. After fighting regionally, Abelardo gained international experience fighting on PXC and Kunlun Fight. Signed to compete on the feeder series, ONE Warrior Series, Abelardo won both fights in 2018 to earn a ticket to the big show where he has gone 1-1 since.
The event will be headlined by Zebaztian Kadestam who defends his welterweight title against Kiamrian Abbasov. It takes place at the Istora Senayan Arena in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 25.
