Fight fans around the world could be heard letting out a collective sigh of relief this morning as news came in that Yoel Romero has made weight for his UFC championship tilt against Israel Adesanya.
The Cuban has missed weight for two title fights in the past. First, at UFC 221 in Perth when he was set to fight Luke Rockhold for the interim middleweight title and then again in his next fight for the title against Robert Whittaker.
Romero was the last fighter to hit the scales and made the mark at 185 pounds (84 kgs).

Israel Adesanya comfortably hit the scales at 184.5 pounds.
The fight at UFC 248 is the first defence of Adesanya’s middleweight title since winning the belt last October. Adesanya knocked out Rob Whittaker in front of a record-setting crowd at Marvel Arena in Melbourne to claim the championship.
Weli Zhang and Joanna Jed also made weight for their strawweight title fight, which will serve as the co-main event. Both fighters came in at 115 pounds (52 kgs).
