In a battle of two former “Ultimate Fighter” contestants, Australian Ben Alloway is set to face Zak Cummings on the UFC on Fox Sports 1 – Condit vs Kampmann 2 card. The event is scheduled to be held at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 28 (August 29 in Australia).
The fight was first reported by Goldcoast.com.au with UFC officials later confirming the match-up which will be contested at welterweight.
Alloway worked his way into the UFC by competing in the “TUF Smashes” reality series where he reached the semi-final stages before being eliminated by Brad Scott. Alloway was given a shot in the finale and in front of his home-crowd knocked out fellow Australian Manuel Rodriguez with a devastating front-kick to be awarded Knockout of the Night honours. In his last outing, the former semi-professional soccer player lost a unanimous decision to Ryan La Flare back in April.
Zak Cummings was a contestant on the recent Ultimate Fighter season seventeen which featured Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen as coaches. After winning his elimination bout, Cummings entered the house and was selected as Chael Sonnen’s third choice. His season came unstuck though as Alloway’s team-mate Dylan Andrews defeated him in the opening round however the Missouri fighter will get another chance in what will be his UFC debut against Alloway.
Alloway joins fellow Australian Robert Whittaker on the card. As previously announced, Whittaker is set to face-off against Court McGee.
