John Wayne Parr’s Caged Muay Thai returns this weekend with their third event set to take place at the Logan Metro Sports Centre in Crestmead, Queensland.
John Wayne Parr will headline his own promotion when he meets Dutch-Surinamese fighter Marco Pique in the main event at 74 kilograms.
Parr previously competed at the first Caged Muay Thai event back in June 2012, where he defeated Jordan Tai with a fourth round KO. Parr retired from competitive fighting following that bout but the urge to return was to much as the Gold Coast based fighter returned in April where he defeated Mostafa Adollahi in Melbourne. Parr won that fight with a second round KO.
33 year-old Pique has fought around the world but it will be his first fight on Australian soil. Back in 2008, Pique did defeat Australian fighter Bruce ‘Preacher’ Macfie in a K-1 MAX event and has faced such fighters as Dzhabar Askerov, Yodsanklai Fairtex and Giogio Petrosyan in his career.
In the semi-main event, Aaron Leigh faces Daniel Williams.
Caged Muaythai is looking at changing the sport of Muay Thai with their events being held inside a cage and the fighters wearing 6oz open gloves. The first two events have been sell out successes
