The pound-for-pound king, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, returns to the boxing ring this weekend when he faces the formidable Krygyz-born Russian Dmitry Bivol.
A four-weight division world champion, ‘Canelo’ returns back to the light-heavyweight division as he faced his third consecutive undefeated opponent. The 31-year-old Mexican captured the WBO light-heavyweight title back in November 2019 when he stopped Sergey Kovalev. He will now look to dethrone Bivol for the WBA super light-heavyweight title.
Alvarez will go down as one of the best boxers of our generations with his lone loss coming at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr, early in his career back in 2013. Currently, Alvarez sports a 57-1, 2 draw record. Bivol brings a 19-0 record, with 11 by stoppage. In his last outing, he won a unanimous decision against Umar Salamov in Russia back in December however the majority of his bouts have taken place in the US.
