Martin Nguyen has a new opponent for this weekends ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs. Andrade II.
Shamil Gasanov has unfortunately been forced to withdraw due to illness, and has been replaced by Kyrgyz debutant Razhab Shaydullaev.
Nguyen vs. Shaydullaev takes place on February 25 (Australian time) at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Nguyen – the former two-division World Champion – is looking to rebound from his loss to Russian debutant Ilya Freymanov in October, which left his record at 1-3 in his past four starts.
“The Situ-Asian” trains at the famed Kill Cliff FC in Florida, USA and expressed his disappointment that his training camp overseas may have gone to waste, following the withdrawal of the undefeated Gasanov.
But, the #4 ranked ONE featherweight is back in business, and faced with another undefeated foe.
Shaydullaev brings a 6-0 record to his debut on the global stage.
The 22-year-old has a 100 percent finishing rate, with five submissions and a TKO on his professional record – the last three of which took place under Russian promotion ACA.
Now, Shaydullaev has landed a big test in the form of a ONE Championship legend, and a win could catapult him straight into the rankings.
ONE Fight Night 7 is headlined by the highly-anticipated rematch between John Lineker and Fabricio Andrade, with the vacant ONE Bantamweight World Title on the line.
