It was a mixed night for the Aussies at ONE Friday Fights 11 this past weekend.
At the eleventh instalmend of ONE Championship’s weekly shows at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, Australia went 1-1.
In the headline bout of the international portion of the card, Queensland’s Tyson Harrison made a huge statement by knocking out two-time former Rajadamnern Stadium Champion Rambo Mor Rattanabandit after a wild three rounds of action.
“John Wayne Noi” stopped the Thai superstar with a hard one-two punch combination in dramatic fashion, as the final seconds of the bout ticked away.
The referee waved off the fight as Rambo struggled to rise from the canvas, triggering a wild celebration from the Corporate Box Gym representative.
The bout was arguably headed to a draw before the stoppage, as Rambo appeared to get the better of the opening round, while Harrison scored a knockdown in the second round.
It was another pulsating performance from Harrison, who continued the ultra-aggressive style he brought in his ONE debut – a razor-thin split decision loss to former four-time World Champion Seksan Or Kwanmuang in January.
Earlier in the night, Devina Martin unfortunately came up short in her own ONE debut.
Martin – the younger sister of ONE strawweight Muay Thai contender Diandra – was stopped in the third round by Chinese veteran Yu Yau Pui after appearing to suffer a knee injury in the second frame.
The Canberra native put on a spirited performance, refusing to be overawed as she exchanged shots with Yu.
Her knee appeared to be compromised in the third, as Yu’s shots sent her off balance and falling to the canvas.
The referee waved the fight off just 24 seconds into the final frame, saving the 25-year-old from any unnecessary punishment.
