Tai Tuivasa has been submitted by Alexander Volkov in the second round in the heavyweight co-main event of UFC 293.
Tuivasa looked to close the range and strike, however Volkov controlled round one, using his range to land heavy strikes on the Sydneysider, including dropping Tuivasa towards the end of the round. Tuivasa pushed the action in the second round, however, was dropped by Volkov, where the Russian was able to lock in an Ezekiel choke to get the win.
‘I don’t really practice the choke’ Volkov admitted after the fight.
This is Tuivasa’s third loss in a row.
Volkov is aiming to make one final run towards the UFC heavyweight championship.
