Sean Strickland is the new UFC middleweight champion after walking down Israel Adesanya for all five rounds in the main event at UFC 293.
Strickland dropped Adesanya at the end of the first, following Adesnaya to the ground with a flurry of strikes. Strickland continued to walk Adesanya down throughout the fight, picking apart the former champion with his jab. As the final round ended, Strickland dropped his defence and began yelling at Adesanya to stand and strike with him.
Strickland’s performance led to all three judges scoring the bout in favour of him.
After the fight, Adesanya raised Strickland’s hand, and left before he could give comment after the fight.
‘I thought I’d be walking away a little bloody and little broken, I’m a little shock that I’m not’ Strickland said in the cage after the fight.
