The second oldest fighter on the UFC roster today proved that age was just a number when Australian Anthony Perosh blasted out three time BJJ champion Vinny Magalhaes on the undercard of UFC 163.
The event was held at the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday morning Australian time.
After a brutal 7-second knockout loss in his last outing, was looking at rebounding in front of Magalhaes’ home country. Perosh circled around his opponent as Magalhaes took centre of the Octagon. The Brazilian came forward but was countered by a big straight right from Perosh that dropped Magalhaes on his back. Magalhaes was still in it and looking at tying up half-a-dozen rights on the ground knocked out Magalhaes.
The fight lasted only 14-seconds.
Since returning to the UFC as a light-heavyweight, Perosh has now four of his five bouts and has no intention of retiring just yet.
When asked about if he still believes he can make a run for the title at the post-fight press-conference, Perosh responded “Look to get a title shot you need to keep winning. I’ve won four of the last five in the light-heavyweight division and I’ll keep on fighting and keep on winning. If I keep on moving up the ranks, then I’ll get a title shot.
“If I lose more fights than I win, then I’ll call it a day.”
“I want to dictate when I retire but as long as I win, I’ll be here,” Perosh added.
With the knockout, Perosh also scored the $50,000 bonus for knockout of the night.
Leading up to the fight, Magalhaes was quoted as saying that if he loses to Perosh he does not deserve to be in the UFC and with this being his fourth loss in five fights, the 29-year old may be on his way out of the UFC.
