Recently released from the UFC, Australian Ben Alloway is set to make his first return to the cage at Brace 23 in Townsville, Queensland where the Gold Coast based fighter will face off against Rich Alchin from New South Wales.
News of the match-up was first revealed by The MMA Corner, with the promotion confirming the return of Alloway who has competed in Brace on four occasions for a record of 3-1.
Alloway got his UFC opportunity via The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs U.K season in which Alloway made it to the semi-finals before bowing out of the reality show.
He got a second chance in front of his home-crowd on the Gold Coast in the seasons finale where he faced fellow countryman Manuel Rodriguez. Alloway capitalised knocking out Rodriguez with a spectacular front-kick in the opening round.
That win got Alloway a further two fights in the UFC, but the 32 year-old was first out-wrestled by Ryan LaFlare before being submitted by Zak Cummings in his most recent outing in August.
Alloway will be looking at coming out of that fight unscathed, as he is set to compete on the next Combat8 card under their modified rules.
His opponent on the Brace card, will be Rick Alchin who has been active competing in welterweight and middleweight bouts. He has a mixed record of 6-6 and was unsuccessful recently in an attempt to make the next local season of The Ultimate Fighter. Most notably, all six wins for Alchin have come via a submission.
The card will be headlined by a lightweight clash between Gokhan Turkyilaz and Canadian born Kevin Manderson while former Brace featherweight champion Edwin Arana will look to get his career back on track when he faces Melbourne fighter Zack Hook.
Brace 23 is set to be held at the Townsville Entertainment Centre in Townsville, Queensland on October 26.
