Following his Bellator 104 dismantling of Eric Prindle last month, Peter Graham has stepped up on two weeks notice to face UFC veteran Cheick Kongo in the promotion’s heavyweight tournament final at Bellator 107.
The new pairing will serve as the main attraction for the event, which is scheduled for November 8 (Nov. 9 in Australia) at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, OK, USA.
Graham’s inclusion on the card comes following the late withdrawal of Vinicius Queiroz who was recently ruled unavailable due to an ACL injury.
In what was primarily a standup battle, ‘The Chief’ made a dominant start to his Bellator campaign against Prindle, earning unanimous scorecards from the judges after outlanding the American giant 41-10.
The victory made it 8 in a row for the 38 year-old Aussie, who hasn’t tasted defeat since tapping to Jim Yorke back in 2010.
Undoubtedly Graham’s biggest test to date in Mixed Martial Arts, Cheick Kongo, 38, will go into his second Bellator appearance on the back of a TKO win over Mark Godbeer at Bellator 102 in early October. The 38 year-old was awarded the win after punishing the British fighter in the second round with knees before dropping him with a pair of uppercuts.
The win was Kongo’s first since losing to Roy Nelson at UFC 159 and subsequent controversial release from the organisation.
