As reported earlier today on Fight News Australia, a UFC heavyweight bout between Mark Hunt and Frank Mir has been targeted for UFC Fight Night 84. FOX Sports subsequently confirmed that the fight is now official. John Morgan from MMA Junkie also reported that the fight would headline the card which will take place on the 20th March, 2016 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Hunt (11-10-1) is coming off a brilliant first round TKO over Antonio Silva at the record-breaking UFC 193 in November of last year, whilst Mir (18-10) suffered a unanimous decision loss to Andrei Arlovkski in September. Given the state of the heavyweight division, with most of the top ten already booked for the first half of 2016, many considered this the fight to make for these two competitors.
No other fights have been formally announced for UFC Fight Night 84 to date.
