A lightweight title fight between reigning champion Adam “The Smiling Assassin” Cook and the undefeated Devastatin’ Dave Cutcliffe headlines Valor’s first show of the new year this Saturday night. In what will also be a first for the Tasmanian based promotion, Valor 13 will take place in Burnie, Tasmania, at the town’s Sports Centre.
Originally hailing from Burnie, but currently training on the Gold Coast at BBA MMA, Cook returns to competition following a lengthy layoff, due to injury, having not fought since outpointing Dave Butt in what was a fight of the year contender back in mid 2014. Hobart’s Dave Cutcliffe has an unblemished 2015 behind him with stoppage wins against Taz Sibley, Ant Poke and most recently, Stephan Friedrich at Valor 12 in December.
In the co-main event, experienced Gold Coast based middleweight Joe “Massacre” Muir comes up against the Priscus Fogagnolo trained Shaw Dean, who will be aiming to extend his unbeaten run to five wins.
The other A-class battle slated for the show will see Victoria’s “The Godfather” Stephan Friedrich do battle with local fighter Damon Upton-Greer at welterweight.
