Four-time Australian Judo Olympian representative Daniel Kelly remained undefeated on Saturday night as his opponent Kym Robinson suffered an early injury and was forced to submit in the main event of MMA Downunder 3. Mixed reports coming in early from the event stating that the fight was either stopped due to the injury or Kelly locked up the rear-naked choke to get the tap. Robinson later advised via social media that he broke several ribs while attempting a throw and was taken to hospital for observation. (Update: This was later clarified by the promotion as a rear-naked choke submission)
Also on the card, late replacement Shane Mitchell proved no match to Muay-Thai specialist Charles August who scored a first round knock-out win while Tony Caruso secured a first-round armbar to submit David Gibb.
The event was held at the Adelaide Arena in South Australia.
