Australian TUF Nations competitor Chris Indich put up a spirited fight against his Canadian opponent, but ultimately was defeated in the third episode of TUF Nations.
The loss left the Australian team with zero wins from the first three fights after Brendan O’Reilly and Zein Saliba were both knocked out.
The episode started though with Australian middleweight fighter Tyler Manawaroa giving the Canadian team a wake-up-call by blowing his didgeridoo in the early hours of the morning. This didn’t go down well with certain members of the Canadian team especially Nordine Taleb who had some not-so-nice things to stay about the youngster.
At the gym, Team Australia brought in Montreal based strength and conditioning coach Jon Chaimberg. Outside the house, some members of the Canadian team had trained with Chaimberg so the introduction of a Canadian to train the Australian team was a talking point on the Canadian team with some calling him a traitor.
The Australian team decorated the moose with tampons and an Aussie scarf. I understand where the scarf may have came from, but the tampons?
Fight preparations got under way and we get to know a bit of history about Chris Indich who described his childhood as an angry one where he constantly was in school and bar fights. MMA helped him use it in a more positive outlet.
A very religious man, Laprise comments that he is ready and feeling great for this bout and wants to be a future role model inside the UFC.
Coaches get into Tyler Manawaroa about his weight and immediately tell him to start getting it under control as his time could be up next.
As is the norm, both coaches talk up the chances of their guy (as they should may I add) as the two fighters both successfully make weight for the welterweight clash.
When the fight begins, it’s Laprise who gets off the better early shots mixing up his punches with kicks. Laprise looks quicker on his feet early as Indich struggled to find his accuracy which allowed the Canadian to take the first round.
With face marked up, Indich immediately increased his intensity however Laprise’s timing was on song as he started to let go with combinations. The more Laprise started to land the fresher he started to look, however Indich stayed in it. Laprise finished the round landing a spinning back kick and we were off to the judges.
All judges gave the fight to Chad Laprise who now joins Kajan Johnson in the welterweight semi-finals. (Watch Full Fight)
The next middleweight fight was announced as Tyler Manawaroa is matched up against Nordine Taleb. Both fighters were asking for each-other so this will have that bad-blood feel to it. Hopefully Manawaroa can turn it around for a well needed win for the Aussie team.
Episode four premiers on FX Australia next Thursday at 4:30pm AEDT.
