The first matchup for Brace’s New Zealand debut has been revealed with top Kiwi lightweight Kieran Joblin (16-7) set to take on longtime Aussie standout Greg Atzori (17-8) in the main event.
The show takes place on Friday, June 17 at the Lincoln Events Centre in Christchurch and will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.
Recently, 27 year-old Joblin was enjoying an impressive undefeated run which included victories over Aussie veteran Jai Bradney, Spanish standout Oriol Gaset and former UFC fighter Ben Wall. Most recently, however, ‘The Stonecutter’ suffered a setback in Canada, losing a decision to Alex Ricci at Triumph FC 1, a fight the Kiwi took on just seven days notice.
Like Joblin, Atzori, 34, will be eager to rebound on the night after the Queensland based fighter fell to Isaac Tisdell at Eternal MMA 16. Prior to the hiccup, ‘The Tarantula’ had put together a four-fight win streak, with all four of those wins coming via stoppage.
The next event from the promotion (Brace 40) takes place this Saturday and will see Michael Tobin take on Edwin Arana in the main event.
