Brace debuts in New Zealand this Friday night with an eight-fight lineup scheduled for the Lincoln Events Centre in Christchurch.
As previously announced, Brace 41 will be headlined by a lightweight clash between local favorite Kieran Joblin (16-7) and Queensland’s Greg Atzori (17-8).
A welterweight battle between Brazilian born submission specialist Renan Secco and Dunedin’s Brogan Anderson will fill the co-main event slot. Secco, 27, is a BJJ black belt who trains out of the Carlson Gracie gym in Queenstown and is currently undefeated in MMA. Anderson is well established on the NZ MMA scene having claimed multiple local titles including the Supremacy FC welterweight strap. The 27 year-old, who recently spent three months training at Jackson’s MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will take a 6-2 record into the fight.
A light heavyweight rematch between ICNZ heavyweight champion Steve “Warzone” Warby and Tiger Muay Thai trained Pane Haraki is also slated for the event. The two fighters first met back in 2012, under the ICNZ banner, with Warby walking away that night with a split points decision (fight video).
Among other matchups announced, Strikeforce NZ’s Cole Davids returns from a lengthy hiatus to face B.J Bland at welterweight. In a 61 kg WMMA bout, Invicta FC’s Faith Van Duin returns to competition for the first time following her world title fight loss to Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. “The Immortal” will look to rebound against Princesses of Pain 45 veteran, and recently crowned XFC Australia flyweight champion, Charlene Watt.
Brace 41 will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass.
