This Saturday night, Tweed College of Martial Arts fighter Johnny Mendez Walker will face-off against Mitch Heron for the Fightworld Cup interim featherweight title.
The bout will headline Fightworld Cup 17 which will be held at the Nerang Police-Citizens Youth Club on the Gold Coast.
Walker goes into the fight coming off an impressive first-round submission over Davin Marsh back in November at the last Fightworld Cup show, while his opponent Shindo New Breed Sunshine Coast trained Mitch Heron also had an impressive submission win on the same event, defeating Suasday Chau with a first-round rear-naked choke.
The winner of the bout is expected to face current undefeated Fightworld Cup champion, Michael Tobin (8-0) later in the year.
In the semi-main event, North Queensland based Taela Kelly will make his Fightworld Cup debut when he faces Shindo New Breed fighter Brentin Mumford. Kelly has shown heaps of potential in his short career and will be up against a tough challenger, with Fightworld Cup welterweight champion Mumford dropping down to lightweight to take this fight.
Also on the card, in what should be a crowd pleaser, Arlene Blencowe faces off against Kenani Mangakahia in a women’s MMA bout.
