Lions Den trained Abel Brites is set to face Greg Atzori in the headlining bout of Superfight MMA. Also announced by the promotion is featherweight battle between Jai Bradney and Rory O’Connell.
As was revealed back in May, the same team that brought Australian fight fans Cage Fighting Championships (CFC) are returning under the revamped and re-branded event name Superfight MMA.
The event is scheduled to take place at Club Punchbowl (Croatian Club) in Sydney’s outskirts on August 21.
Abel Brites is in for a busy two months with the Brace 2014 tournament champion already lined up to headline Hex Fight Series in a fortnights time where he takes on arguably his toughest opponent to date, Nick Patterson. Brites is riding a four fight win streak with all four wins coming inside the distance.
Hervey Bay based Greg Atzori has a fight lined up himself as he looks to defend his Fightworld Cup title against Nick Robbins on August 1 before he backs up and faces Brites. Atzori is coming off an impressive second round submission win over Brad Terrey back in November which broke a two fight losing streak for Atzori. The Integrated Martial Arts Academy trained fighter has previously fought twice under the CFC banner.
In the semi-main event fresh off his quick finish of Raphael Berthet at Valor 11, Queensland featherweight Jai Bradney will square off with Sydney’s Rory O’Connell. A crowed favourite, Bradney is motivated and has a new sense of confidence since dropping down to to the featherweight division however will be in for a tough test against under-rated local fighter Rory O’Connell eager to make a name of himself among the top of the division.
