One of Europe’s leading MMA and kickboxing promotions Absolute Championship Berkut’s (ACB) expansion is showing no signs of slowing with the Russian based promotion in May announcing a number of new international locations for the remainder of 2017, including Japan, Mexico, Germany and Australia.
More information has now come to light regarding the promotion’s Australian debut, ACB 76, which will take place December 9 on the Gold Coast, according to ACB officials.
While no matchups have been made public at this stage, it’s understood the promotion is targeting some of the country’s top talent.
One local fighter who has already hinted at his participation in the landmark event via social media is Gold Coast local Michael Tobin (12-2 MMA, 0-2 ACB). The 24 year-old featherweight already has two ACB appearances under his belt, debuting for the promotion in March before following that up just last month at ACB 65, both taking place in England.
With three appearances to his name, another Aussie to compete in the promotion is former UFC welterweight Ben Alloway (19-8 MMA, 1-2 ACB).
Matchup announcements for the Australian show are expected in the coming weeks. An announcement regarding the Gold Coast venue is also expected soon.
Founded in 2014, ACB has held an impressive 65 MMA events in total with 15 of those taking place already in 2017. Some of the more notable fighters to fight for the promotion include Luke Barnatt, Norman Parke, Thiago Silva, Jesse Taylor and Pat Healy to name a few.
