Veteran fighter Adrian Pang will have his 35th professional MMA bout this Friday night when he faces off against Evolve MMA trained Amir Khan.
The bout will feature as the co-main event on the One Championship: Immortal Pursuit card taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Pang comes into the contest on the back of two losses in the second half of 2016 with the last one being a split points decision to UFC prospect Roger Huerta. Plans on the two meeting again this year fell through and a lack of opportunities has kept Pang, a 16-year fight veteran, on the sidelines throughout 2017. The 40-year-old is looking forward to stepping back into the cage and testing himself against the new generation coming through the ranks.
“It is like the young bull versus the old bull. It will be a tough match for me. He is young and he will have heaps of energy, and he’s strong. But I have never been knocked out in my career, so let’s see,” Pang told the media at today’s press conference.
“I have competed all around the world, I have been up and I have been down. I know how to bring the action, and I’m bringing it Friday night.”
It’s a massive opportunity for his opponent Amir Khan who steps up to face the most credentialed and experienced opponent of his career. Since losing a split-points decision to Shannon Wiratchai back in 2015, Khan has swept up five wins in a row, with all coming via stoppage.
“I am a man on a mission. Adrian Pang is one of the top guys in the division right now, so it’s a big test for me,” Khan told the media.
In the main event, undefeated welterweight Ben Akren puts his title belt on the line against Japanese grappler Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki.
