Riding a three-fight losing streak for the first time in 17-year MMA career, Adrian Pang has had his next bout announced with One Championship. The 40-year-old, who recently signed a new contract with the Asian promotion, will face 28-year-old Filipino Honorio Banario on April 20.
The bout will be part of the One: Heroes of Honor card taking place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines, which will be headlined by hometown favourite Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon as he faces Andrew Leone from USA.
Bonorio, a former One Championship title holder, will have the hometown support when he meets Pang. He’s managed to get his career back on track after losing five on the trot, to notable fighters including Narantungalag Jadambaa, Herbert Burns, Ev Ting and Japanese veteran Koji Oishi twice. He’s now on a four fight winning streak, though has not competed since April 2017 where he stopped Czech fighter Jaroslav Jartim.
Known for his extreme durability, Pang will be eager to get back in the title picture after losses to Eduard Folayang, Roger Huerta and most recently against Amir Khan. The coach and owner of Integrated MMA in Brisbane, Pang will be looking to utilise his years of experience to get back in the winners column.
The event will also be the launch of One Super Series with the promotion intending to create a global league for elite strikers with Giorgio Petrosyan facing “Smokin’ Jo Nattawut of Thailand. As previously announced, Kiwi Brad Riddell will also compete under One Super series rules against Regian Eersel.
