The highly anticipated three round fight Adrian Pang and Jai Bradney goes down this weekend in the North Brisbane suburb of Eatons Hills. The lightweight MMA bout will headline the Adrenalin-Unleashed event which will see a mixture of Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai in the cage at the Eatons Hill Hotel.
When Pang steps in the cage, it will be exactly 608 days since his last competitive bout after an incident on the Gold Coast in May 2011 left him in hospital.
The Integrated Martial Arts fighter was set upon by a group of assailants who trapped him and beat him to an inch of his life at a Gold Coast nightclub following an event. After a long recovery and a even longer legal battle Pang is still fighting for police action to be taken to have the attackers brought to justice however could not postpone his fighting career any longer and will make his comeback this Saturday.
Pang will bring a 19-8 MMA record into the fight and has also competed in Muay Thai and boxing bouts. A former Legend Fighting Championships lightweight champion, Pang was preparing for a number one contender bout before the incident. During his career, Pang has defeated international fighters including Taiyo Nakahara, Nam Yui Chul and Muhsin Corbbrey. In his last outing, he was edged out by highly regarded Jadamba Narantungalag by a split points decision.
His opponent this weekend will be the ever entertaining Jai Bradney. Formerly fighting out of the Gold Coast, work called and his family relocated to Gladstone where he trains out of the Gladstone MMA team. In his last fight, Bradney was defeated by Ben Wall however he is still one of the leading lightweights in Australia with recent wins over the likes of Greg Atzori, Shane Wundenberg and a highlight reel head-kick knockout over American fighter Eric Gerber. Bradney brings a 15-8 (1 draw) record into the fight and on top of that also has Muay Thai bouts under his belt.
Expect neither fighter to step back when these two meet in the middle of the cage.
Originally the Caged Muay-thai portion of the card was going to be headlined by Rhys ‘Lightning’ Windysport taking on experienced fighter Petchtanong from Thailand however travel complications has forced Petchtanong from the card and the fight has been scrapped.
Stepping up will be Bevan O’Malley from the Core strength Fitness gym in Maroochydore under Richard Fogarty, as he faces 35-fight veteran Jimmy Urwin. The fight will be contested at under full Thai rules at under 66.8 kilograms
After calling the Phuket Top Team in Thailand home for the last few months, Australian MMA fighter Robert Lisita (pictured left) returns to his home country as he is set to face-off against Gracie Central Coast fighter Jacob Pettett. Despite Lisita making a recent drop to featherweight, Fight News Australia understands that the fight will be contested at lightweight which is where Pettett’s fights have been contested under. Both fighters will be looking at impressing after recent losses.
In an Australian Mod-Thai Title bout at under 69.5 kilograms, K.O Martial Arts gym member Steve Woodley will be looking at keeping the title in Queensland when he faces Western Australian fighter Chris Daniels. Daniels is coming from the Koa Sok Muay Thai gym under Darren Curovic.
Integrated MMA fighter Damien Brown will be having a test run at making featherweight as he faces New Zealand fighter Scott MacGregor. Brown has fought he career at lightweight but a recent loss at Legend Fighting Championships in Kuala Lumpur had the 28 year-old considering the move to featherweight. This will be the first step in attempting to make featherweight with the fight being contested at under 67-kilograms. His opponent Scott MacGregor will make the trip across the Tasman where he trains at the Timaru Freestyle Martial Arts gym in Canterbury. MacGregor is coming off a victory against Doug Higgins with his only recorded loss occurring to Daniel Hooker.
Also in MMA fights on the card, American Ben Nguyen who trains at the Tiger Muay thai gym in Thailand returns for his second fight in Australia when he faces Luke Morris from the C4MMA gym in a flyweight clash while Rob Giuffrida takes on Ric Alchin in a middleweight fight.
